Domestic Violence Resources

Last month we looked at what domestic violence is and how to identify it. This month, we are providing resources for how to obtain help when needed. These resources are helpful for those looking to leave an abusive situation or for friends/family supporting a victim.

If you are in immediate danger, call 9-1-1

For general questions and guidance, the 24/7 National DV Hotline is available by calling 1-800-799-7233.

CHAT support is available at The Hotline and clicking the “chat live now” button at the bottom of the page.

There is a text option by texting: START to 88788

Local shelters are an excellent resource when fleeing an abusive situation or even for those who may not need shelter but need assistance due to domestic violence. Case workers at the shelter can help. Kathy’s Legacy serves children and pets impacted by domestic violence and does not work directly with adult victims or provide shelter. We have compiled a list of resources in San Diego that is always available on our website if you or someone you know needs assistance.
