10 Things I Love About Kathy
by Madison Scharbarth
In celebration of my mom’s birthday on November 24, I’m sharing 10 things I love about her.
I love how my Mom had the most contagious laugh. Every time she laughed or giggled it was impossible to resist joining in. Her ability to radiate her energy and positivity was unparalleled.
I love how my Mom had the best sense of fashion. She always picked me up from school in the latest trends and styles, and always looked like a fashionista! I probably told her she embarrassed me back then, but now I’m wearing her clothes!
I love how kind my mother was. She was always looking to console or support our family when needed. She was the most comforting person and the power she had to take away pain was incredible.
I love how my mom was a strong and independent woman who pioneered her own business in a male dominated industry. To this day it is what inspires me to become an entrepreneur.
I love how my Mom raised me to love myself for who I am. She told me to always be authentic and never sacrifice who I am for someone else. She raised me to be proud of my intelligence, humor, beauty, and strength.
I love how my mom taught me to follow the golden rule: Treat others how you want to be treated. She constantly chose kindness over anger and led her life with love and respect for others.
I love how my mom was always there no questions asked. Even though she was a single mom running her own business and always busy, she was there whenever I needed her. When l broke my arm in 4th grade at summer camp, she was on the scene in a matter of minutes and brought me my favorite elephant stuffed animal to make me feel better. I still have Quake to this day.
I love how my mom was a “Girly girl” and we would spend weekends on the floor watching movies and putting on makeup together. I remember always using my step stool her in bathroom to curl my hair at the same time with her, and I still love getting ready to this day!
I love how my mom was the best host and always finding a creative way to throw a party. From American Idol themed parties to tamale making nights, my mom sure knew how to get people together to have fun!
I love how my mom was the most incredible mom I could have ever asked for. I love her with my whole heart and every day that passes she is incredibly missed. I hope to grow up one day to be a mom just like her.
